Color

The chat application will display a full body graphic representation of the chat participants. Colors will be mapped to the participants' brain waves and emotional output/intake. Colors will be displayed during the chat to illustrate where the energy sharing is taking place within the body.

Sound

Part of the application will consist of music that has been programmed with energy chanting visuals. Practitioners will be able to energy chant along with the music and register feedback with the application. This will allow participants to better understand their own progress and adjust if desired.

  • Using the chat application to create music with emotion and focused intent - BrainwaveRaga

9:32 PM Trey: ah---the ways that color, mood, and music can/might be consistently correlated (vibration)

9:33 PM me: ah yessssss

hehe that is what it is anyway

perhaps you could map the raga

to emotion?

9:34 PM they are simple tones right?

then maybe do guided meditations with raga music to observe yourself and where you resonate

with color and emotion

Trey: yes,

9:36 PM me: cool

what is that a yes to? lol

9:37 PM thanks for sharing some of that clarity ;)

9:39 PM if you could map your energy chanting to the phrases (forget what the parts are called) that make up raga

you could essentially create your own raga! :)

9:40 PM Trey: yes!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swara#What_The_Swaras_Mean

me: I have thought of how we could expand this into creating music and trey has provided the missing piece

GrantGamin Ideas

  • Sustainable Living and Alternative Energies
    • Working as a space station fuel attendent on the Moon a young alien (name to be determined) is presented with the opportunity to pass through the Earth Quarantine and study the inhabitants. The fuel company has plans to construct a station on Earth and requires some extra help in scouting the terrain. Once on Earth the alien discovers the primative technologies of the humans and their poor consumption habits. Out of compassion for the inferior race, the alien attempts to share his knowledge of alternative fuels and energies with the Earthlings. The alien must learn how to effectively share his knowledge with the human race without overwhelming them or presenting information they are not yet ready to receive. This portion of the game can service as the introductin and training segment where participants learn how to use the technology to communicate with others (wiki tutorials, open source tutorials etc.).
      • Participants join groups and teams internationally to discuss and share ideas about alternative energy and strategies moving forward. Players will communicate via wiki and chat. The role of the alien eventually fades back into one of encouragement and support.
        • Impliment chat application that will promote better sharing through energy/emotional sharing.
      • An open source design could also be implimented where participants could construct ideas and test them within simulated real world digital environments.
      • Build in a ratings system within the wiki pages (bulletin boards) where participants can rate each others' ideas. Offer additional materials for the open source design as positive peer enforcement.
  • Digital Ashram
    • A digital space will be provided to participants to share philosophical and spiritual ideas in a free and open environment. Bi-weekly or monthly large online gatherings will be organized through the community calendar. Participants will also be able to organize their own public online events and gatherings. Users would be welcome to join groups or explore and contribute on an individual basis. The objective of this digital ashram is to create a place for learning that assists in moving towards unity, through individual and group participation. The space would consist of the following--
      • A public wiki will act as the foundation for the ashram supporting the other applications. Serveral pages will be created specifically for the objective of the ashram.
        • Community pages devoted to particular groups and/or philosophies

        • Participants will be encouraged to create their own blogs and wiki pages
        • A Unity calendar wiki page to schedule online events - calendar pages will also be created within the smaller community
        • Community chat rooms will create a space for events - a private chat application will also be provided for more personal learning and energy sharing
        • Open world video game design similar to "Second Life" could also be developed as the space for the ashram

    • The digital ashram is not limited to just the general internet, but other forms of technology and real world exercises
      • Create an iPhone application that will allow for users to plot and search for physical artifacts and sacred sights - geocaching
      • A community page based on creative teaching practices will work towards expanding teaching strategies, activities, and technologies for further education
        • software applications, games, videos, music
      • Personal and community calendars can be used to set up face-to-face meetings and gatherings
      • It would be ideal to reach out to religious/spiritual organizations in contributing and participating in community gatherings and chats as a means for them to teach and share

Gaming and communicative performance

Ambient century: cite forward by Brian Eno, notice how La Monte Young experiments also sets the stage for the transition to the listener:

" The listener, I felt, became the population of a sonic landscape and was free to wander 'round it" ((xii). So, while Young takes autopoesis to a sonic landscape, the shift to the listener re-introduces collective activity, including narrative as the navigational mode of production in complex systems (cf the late James J Kay's dissertation on narrating ecosystems, thermodynamics).

The "listener" becomes the composer becomes a “population,” a multitude. Sengers et al find that computer games produce the hardest questions, including questions of authorship and creativity. “? How should people deal with the distribution of authorship in an environment where narratives are participatory and emergent?” (108).

The player is the author of his/her own experience. I am my own guru. A narrative videogame that is participatory and emergent must gently guide the player towards an ending based on the choices that they make. Just as there can not really be a true objective film, there can not be an objective videogame that is open to all possibilities. Restrictions set by the medium hinder emergence and calls for innovation of the hardware and software.

riff on Chris Crawford re: interactive storytelling, also the text Second Person

tropes/tags/keywords: anticipation, telescoping from multiple perspectives, rhetorical choices, narrative, active prose (thinking in verbs), cultivating personae vs. safeguarding ego, narrative and sequences: 'dramatically reasonable' in interactive storytelling as progymnasmata for communicative performance.
